Urban and environmental and occupation health, policy and management; application of risk analysis, systems thinking, engineering and appropriate technology; Brownfields revitalization; and hazardous waste management

Community Service/Community Research Projects:

Technical support to a number of community groups, including:
  • Brownfields Environmental Solutions for Trenton (BEST), (a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency pilot grant-Technical Outreach Services to Communities Project). Focus: Brownfields opportunities in Trenton, NJ
  • Bloomfield Third Riverbank Association (a community group concerned with a proposed housing development on a former mercury thermometer manufacturing site)
  • Voorhees Township Buzby Landfill Task Force. Focus: Proposed clean-up and redevelopment of the Buzby Landfill
  • Fettersville Community Organization/Macedonia Historical Association (works to retree a city-owned Brownfield site using the Paulownia tree along the Delaware River)
  • The Hudson River Community Advisory Group (composed of stakeholders involved with the Hudson River PCB Superfund project)
  • Heart of Camden (a community organization in South Camden, NJ, working on a South Waterfront Redevelopment Plan)
