Department of Dental Public Health (DNPH)

About Dental Public Health

The department of dental public health is designed to produce skilled and committed dental health professionals equipped with a broad knowledge of health problems and health delivery. The health professional also will be capable of assuming leadership roles in community oral health promotion, oral disease prevention and oral health research programs.

The curriculum provides opportunities for the student to select an area of concentration. They include oral epidemiology, or public policy and oral health service administration. The oral epidemiology emphasis focuses on the distribution and determinants of oral diseases. The oral health service administration emphasis is concerned with implications of public health policy on the structure, process and outcome of the oral health delivery system. In addition to other MPH degree requirements, each student must complete seven required department courses (15 credit hours) and three elective courses (9 credit hours) prior to the completion of the program.
