Degree Detail

MD/MPH Dual Degree Program

Application for this degree program is available through the campus office.

The UMDNJ - School of Public Health (SPH) sponsors a dual MD/MPH program in conjunction with UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMDNJ - RWJMS) on the Piscataway/New Brunswick Campus, and on the Newark Campus with the UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ - NJMS). This program allows medical students to complete both their doctoral degree and the MPH degree in five years. A four-year curriculum is also available at UMDNJ - RWJMS and the UMDNJ - NJMS that allows students to complete most of the credits required for the MPH so that they can complete the degree during residency and/or fellowship training without adding a year to their education. Application to this dual degree program is limited to students who have already been accepted at UMDNJ - RWJMS or UMDNJ - NJMS. A limited number of full scholarships are offered by the dean of the UMDNJ - NJMS and the dean of UMDNJ - RWJMS to support the MPH degree for students in the dual degree program on their campus.*

* The UMDNJ - School of Public Health grants six (6) transfer credits as electives for all dual degree students from professional schools (Allopathic and Osteopathic Medicine, MS Nursing, Physician Assistants and Dentistry) for biological basis of health and health promotion content in their professional curriculum. See transfer credits for details.
